Music Heals

I’ve been remiss, and I apologize; Adventuring and feasting without so much as a quick blog post to share the sweet deets and spread the love. I’ll chalk it up to a mental block, yesterday healed by the power of music. I had the pleasure of seeing my good friend dust off his dancing shoes and hit the road again after a good long break. House of Pain shook the House of Blues the other night and the fun is fresh as ever. I’m at exactly the age where after 20 years, bands like this bring me a rush of memories from the old neighborhood (Tarzana) and make me wax nostalgic about an exciting time… without the drugs this go around. The perspective over time is amazing, and the music that moved me then, still does today. See them in your city when they come through. Really great show and a great time. Godspeed on tour kids.

King Fantastic

You may have read about one of my favorite musical duos ever, hopefully you’ve given them a listen and feel the same. Killer Reece and Troublemaker tore up the Foundation Room at the House of Blues last night in HLYWD. The show was short and sweet, I could’ve done with a couple more songs but I was glad to get what tasty treats were offered. These guys are the real deal, and live they put up a raw display of the album’s clever lyrics and driving rhythmic beats. Paying respect my beloved city Los Angeles, the room was ablaze last night. I love these guys both and I’m telling you this right now, get their music and bump it in your car on 11. The beats and lyrics are so infectious you’ll take the long way home.

Go Fast Looks Like This

Dear friend and race legend Derrick Walker recently added some of the fastest images available to Walker Racing’s #40 piloted by Speedy Dan Clarke. They’re running in the Firestone Indy Lights series with our GENUINE AMERICAN LUXURY motto helping the effort. It’s well known that the GOOD ART Round Skull is fast and beautiful. And equally incredible is Derrick Walker as team owner / manager to recognize the power of a truly aesthetic image. I’d also say we’re in good company there with Deans Knight, Wasteco and Ticketmaster, and honored to be included in the group. We and our friends wish Derrick and the team big go fast mojo in the series.

Sly’s Expendables

Always up for a good fight and with a flair for going over the top, Sly classed up the screen this month with some GOOD ART in the release of The Expendables movie. I’m so glad that in a world of skinny jeans and latte’s, Stallone has the gumption to single-handedly keep lit the torch of mega action films. You go Rambo, er Rocky! You see what I mean, he’s not just legendary, he’s a bunch of legends. His lucky ring is a custom GA job; a large rose-topped Sugar Skull in Sterling & 22KT gold with propeller blades for eyes, lightening bolt brows, sticks of dynamite for cross bones and a bomb for a third eye. Subtle. What you won’t see in the movie is this huge bracelet I didn’t get done in time.

X-Games LA

Got to catch a few events with our friends from Countour HD and ended the night at Coles, the best spot in town for a Pastrami Dip & a glass of Bourbon. Johnny Drum is their house and it’s great with one big cube.

Moto GP

I went to Moto Grand Prix in Monterey, CA at Laguna Seca. It’s one of my favorite tracks, one of the best to watch a race and just a generally great area to take a weekend trip. Standing alongside the Corkscrew or above Race Control in the lounge, it’s always a great view. GP is a weekend long moto-bonding session not to be missed by any 2-wheel go fast fan. An annual pilgrimage of gear-goodness and I spent it with some great friends. I got to brainstorm about a new GOOD ART / BATES Leathers Bates Custom Leathers collaboration with Dana who owns the legendary California custom leather jacket company. I feasted with Jason, Tony and Brando, lounged on Ducati Island with Dan from Contour, I met Paul & Becca from Spidergrips, and rider Greg Tracy who took their Multistrada to the win at Pikes Peak last month, and I got very intimate with a good number of amazing bikes, even reuniting for a moment with my first Ducati by chance. It was Ducati-filled funtime for all. Stoner took 2nd and Nicky 5th! Thanks for the great weekend Skipper, really wish I had a photo of your face to share here, next time around I guess.

Montreal Grand Prix

This last weekend I had the good fortune to experience Formula One in the most grand style; as a guest of my friends at Deans Knight. The Montreal Grand Prix trip is an annual event (interrupted last year by no agreement between this beautiful city & Monsieur Ecclestone) for the DK group, and it’s like no other race weekend. From the moment I arrived Thursday morning it was a never ending parade of food, drink, friends, Ferrari’s, Mercedes, drink and maple syrup. I know I wrote food twice. I think I was too busy “eating” to really capture the glory of the event with my camera. So this gallery may be a bit incohesive, but the weekend was one for the ages. Vintage Formula racing, the Ferrari Challenge and the main event were all incredible. Yes, Lewis won… again, he’s amazing. Adrian ran a great race nabbing 9th, despite a punctured tire, and edging out Michael Schumacher. Any day you’re faster than Schumacher is a day you’re fast.

Lotta love in this lighter

Just finished this birthday gift for DT, it’s a slim Zippo. I’m thinking he doesn’t yet subscribe to the blog so I’m probably not blowing the surprise. Here’s a look in the rough.

HD Quality – Admitedly Crap Video

This Video is amazing, and yet not so at the same time. How, you wonder… Brilliant camera, and no practice as of yet. I’m not a video guy. Had a couple cameras over the years and never really got into it. I think that’s gonna change now. My friend DS from Contour HD sent over the most amazing care package, loaded with the latest high-end HD video gadgetry. Thank you, a few times. Ultra compact and practically idiot-proof, the Contour HD is super small and totally convenient to use. So much so, I’m starting to do just that. I have no idea how to edit the nearly 2+ hours (I know) of footage I’ve captured so far, so this bit at the bottom is the only “movie” cohesive enough to share. The ride was great, BTW. And I might make lots of movies.

Fantastic Teaser

Love these guys, maybe too much. KF inspired pendant collaboration done tomorrow. New album in June. It’s already an exciting Spring.
